Pioneers has been serving Lincoln since 1930. It is very popular with local golfers and it has played host to the Nebraska Open.

The clubhouse sits on a hill with a scenic view of the rolling countryside of west Lincoln. Many of its lush bluegrass fairways are lined by pine trees. The greens were rebuilt in 1989. They are smooth and fairly tame.

You have two chances at career tee shots (if the wind is from the north) on hole 1 of both Nines. You hit from elevated tees to downhill fairways.

The most severe hazard comes in the form of a large pond that comes into play on the par 3 East hole #4. Your tee shot must carry roughly 170 yards to clear it.

Directions from I-80: Take I-80 to Exit 397 (Beatrice and Lincoln). Go south on Hwy 77 about 2.7 miles to West Van Dorn. Turn right and go 2.3 miles to the entrance on the left.
