Firethorn has long been out in front of the Nebraska golf scene. Many courses now have equal challenge and beauty, but Firethorn has become a right of passage for Nebraska golfers seeking to match their skills against "the best."

The club is for serious minded golfers and the course shows why. The layout winds over slopes southeast of Lincoln. If you stay in play you are fine. If you stray you will be hopelessly embroiled in a tug of war with knee deep grass.

Pete Dye has left his mark on the design with many risk reward decisions as well as frightening water hazards and semi-island greens.

An additional 9 holes, designed by Rod Whitman, are now in play as the West Course.

Directions from I-80: Take I-80 to Exit 409 (Lincoln and Waverly). Go 2.5 miles west on Hwy 6 to 84th St. Go south 6.7 miles on 84th St. to Montello Rd. Turn left on Montello Rd. and go east .5 mi to Firethorn Ln. Turn right and go .1 miles to the clubhouse on your right.
